I know, I know. I have no excuses except all those excuses you’ve heard before. Busy! Busy! Busy! Sometimes a half hour of working brain power is a hard thing to get your hands – or brains – on. I might just make myself a BAD BLOGGER badge and wear it on site like a Scarlet Letter. Something involving Simon Cowell so you know I am truly suffering..
In lieu of anything you know, that requires that half hour of brain power, I thought I would post this link. It’s a boutique literary agency site, based in the UK, and they’ve kindly set out the ins and outs of the entire process, from subbing to publication, all from their own point of view. There’s nothing shocking in there, once you’ve been around writers/conferences/crit sites and all the rest of the stuff that bubbles around the busy fringes of the publishing industry for more than five minutes, you sorta feel you’ve seen and heard it all. But it does lay it all out in cold hard text, and there is something about hearing it direct from the horses mouth that puts it in a slightly different light. If nothing else, despite the brisk tone, it’s oddly reassuring. It really is a hard business to crack.
